Gay Rights Stamp by Raven-LaLupa Gay Rights Stamp by Raven-LaLupa
a b o u t:

A huge thanks to all of you who have commented and :+fav:ed this! I am honored by the response I've gotten on this!!

Thanks to =GibbyGibson, and her tutorial. [link]

This deviation is not meant to be offensive to anyone, and the fact that it says "
straight artists" is explained below.

Where I live, people are narrow minded. If you support the fight for gay rights, that synonymous with being gay. That's just the way things work here, as I have noticed during the promotion of my neverending quest for total equality of all people. (...No matter skin-colour, sexual orientation, religion... I guess you've heard it all before. I guess I could call myself an idealist.) I think that conscious opinions and awareness is just like a cold; contagious.

Thing is; the people I've talked with that support the fight for gay rights have really thought it all through, can provide reasons for their opinions and... Well. I have yet to meet a person that supports gay rights "...Just 'cause." Even though it makes more sense (in my opinion) to support a group of people for no obvious reason than to be against them. That might just be my forced-positive-attitude talking, but think about it?

After spending two hours in a discussion-class where I was the only one supporting the rights of homosexuals, (One tiny-teenage girl against 26 raging, narrow minded monster-kids. Imagine.) almost laughing out loud when hearing their arguments, I think it's tragic that so many people dislike/hate/even-worse gay human beings without even being able to explain why.

The purpose of this stamp is simply to say that you don't have to be black to be against discrimination of the black people, you don't have to be Jewish to disapprove of Hitler, and you do certainly not have to be gay to support gay rights.

I know bringing Hitler up is a cheap trick, please excuse my desperation. I just really care for this matter.

I mean, I'm definitely straight but I'm not gonna say anything against people who aren't, and like you said in the description.. "I'm not Jewish but I still don't like Hitler" for example.
I know, this comment is going to turn into a rant so I should probably just stop in a little bit, but I can agree.. Just because I'm not someone like this doesn't mean I can't say that their lives don't matter.

Gay rights does not mean supporting homosexuality. It means Homosexuals having rights as any other human being. I support gay rights but not homosexuality.

No, they're nothing alike.

Supporting gay rights is letting gay people have human rights.

Supporting homosexuality is thinking that being gay is natural and okay.

I think homosexuality is a sin. It's unnatural, if you will. But that doesn't mean I will deny humans human rights. I like to accept everyone and try to love them, even if it gets very hard. That's what my God would want.

Human emotion, is in fact, natural. Also, I am not being a jerk. You're (most likely) just another close minded social justice warrior.

Lol, I'm not quite social justice warrior. And close minded? Sorry sweetie, your the close minded one here, thinking that religion is greater than respect. Now, I have nothing against religion, I'm religious myself. You're doing that "love the sinner, hate the sin" thing. But no one is sinning for loving someone. And homosexuality is just another type of love.

Can you elaborate? I'm not trying to pick a fight, I'm just curious as to how can you support gay rights but not homosexuality...?

Gay rights means that homosexuals should be treated as humans. Yes, I believe that homosexuality is very wrong, but I would never say gays don't deserve human rights.

I don't personally think so. If I didn't think that, I would basically be saying anyone who does something wrong doesn't deserve to be treated as a human.

Gay rights supporters usually support all of the lgbt, it's just gays and trans get a lot more hate than bisexuals.

No such thing as "opposite gender", also are you insinuating that bisexuals have straight privilege because I'm pretty sure that's biphobia

Wha? I myself am pansexual, I know how hard it is. I'm just saying bisexuals have a MUCH easier time pretending to be straight if the situation needs it. and I mean opposite SEX, not gender. Im merely saying that bisexuals have a little easier than homosexuals.

How do "bisexuals have a MUCH easier time pretending to be straight" if everyone is automatically assumed to be straight? Ever heard of heteronormativity?

There's also no opposite sex either. With the advent of intersex people there are more variations of chromosomes than just xx and xy.

okay hold on
YES THERE IS OPPOSITE SEX
your SEX is male, female, both, or neither. GENDER is much more complex.

and if your bi, you can just date females if your male and males if your female, everyone will thing your straight

Even though I am Christian, I 100% support the idea of allowing gay people to have human rights. They're humans, just like us. It is not okay to dehumanize them at all. In fact, though a lot of homophobic people back up their hate with the Bible (if they're religious) nothing in it says it's ok to condemn or bash them.

this whole thing feels like a heterosexual circlejerk.

it's great that you support our rights but it seems to feel like you're more interested in telling the stories of how you came to support lgbta+ rights rather than actually helping to tell our stories. It feels like you're trying to make this about you, and how you're such a great person for showing basic human decency, rather than actually help us out.

it's pretty easy to say "I support gay rights!" but it's harder to actually show your support, and a stamp on your page reiterating you are straight before what you support, honestly sounds along the lines of "I'm straight, but I support gay rights! uwu but I'm definitely straight!" and while i don't care if you say you're straight, it is usually what gets assumed since it's very common. it doesn't really show much support, just a "feel good" thing to put on your page.
